Privacy and cookies
This covers tamperan.com and your Tamperan account (central.tamperan.com). It is short because neither does much with your data: the site is a marketing site with a contact form and one analytics tool, and the account is how our customers sign in to see their services and ask for help.
Tamperan is the data controller. To ask anything about this page, to request a copy of what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, use the contact form.
What we collect
If you fill in the contact form, we store the name, email address and message you type. We store it in our own database and use it to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass it to anyone else. With it we record which page you first arrived on during that visit, the address of the page that sent you there (the site and page, never its query string), and any advert reference in the link you followed - the campaign, and the search words the advert was shown for, where the link carries them - so we can tell which pages and adverts bring enquiries in. Nothing is stored on your device to do this: it's held in the open page and only sent if you send the form.
If you sign in to a Tamperan account, with Google or with a link we email you, we create an account holding your name and email address - the ones Google gives us, or the address the link went to. We use them to sign you in and, if you are a customer, to run your account and answer your requests.
If you agree to analytics, we record which pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you used. This is to see which pages are useful. It is not used to build a profile, target advertising, or make any decision about you.
If you do not agree to analytics, we still count the page view, but with nothing written to your device and nothing that identifies you or joins one visit to the next. See cookies below.
We do not sell or share personal information, in the ordinary sense of those words or in the specific senses CCPA/CPRA gives them.
Who else sees it
- PostHog - product analytics, on their EU infrastructure. Analytics requests go to tamperan.com first and we pass them on, so your browser is not talking to PostHog directly. Only used with your agreement.
- Cloudflare - serves the site and filters abusive traffic. Sets its own strictly-necessary cookies to do that.
- Google - only if you choose to sign in to a Tamperan account with Google, which tells Google you signed in to us.
- Amazon Web Services - sends the emails your Tamperan account receives, including sign-in links, from its UK infrastructure.
That is the complete list of third parties; there is no advertising network, no data broker, and no tag manager on this site.
We store personal data in the UK and EEA: in our own database, and on PostHog's EU infrastructure. Cloudflare handles each request, including what you send through the contact form, at whichever location on its global network answers it, which can be outside the UK and EEA. It does that under its data processing addendum, with transfers covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Cookies and tracking
We use two categories of storage. You can change your choice at any time using Manage cookies in the footer of every page.
Strictly necessary
These support things you have asked the site to do - remembering your cookie choices, and keeping the contact form secure against abuse. The site does not work properly without them, so they cannot be turned off. Cloudflare sets a small number of its own for the same reason.
The site also keeps one note in your browser's session storage: the address of the page you're on, so the back button works when pages load in place. It holds nothing about you, and your browser deletes it when you close the tab.
Analytics
PostHog, described above. Turned off until you agree, and if you decline it stays off. Before you have decided either way, analytics runs in a cookieless mode that writes nothing to your device.
Nothing else. The site does not store preferences beyond your cookie choice, and there is no advertising or cross-site tracking. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or complain to a regulator - in the UK, the ICO. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: the Manage cookies link is on every page.
We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends it, we treat analytics as declined without you having to do anything.
How long we keep things
Contact form submissions are kept while there is a reason to - an ongoing or possible conversation - and deleted when there is not. A Tamperan account that never becomes a customer's - one that has not followed a link we sent and belongs to no customer - is removed 30 days after it was created. A customer's account is kept while they are a customer, and deleted when you ask through the contact form. Analytics data is retained by PostHog under their retention settings and is not tied to a name or an email address. Consent decisions are kept as a record that you made them, which is what a regulator asks for as proof.
Changes
If we add a vendor or change what data is shared, we bump the policy version and ask you again, rather than quietly relying on a decision you made about something else.
