Privacy

This covers tamperan.com. It is short because the site does very little with your data: it is a marketing site with a contact form and one analytics tool.

Tamperan is the data controller. To ask anything about this page, to request a copy of what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, use the contact form.

What we collect

If you fill in the contact form, we store the name, email address and message you type. We store it in our own database and use it to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass it to anyone else.

If you agree to analytics, we record which pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you used. This is to learn which writing is worth doing more of. It is not used to build a profile, target advertising, or make any decision about you.

If you do not agree to analytics, we still count the page view, but with nothing written to your device and nothing that identifies you or joins one visit to the next. See cookies below.

We do not sell or share personal information, in the ordinary sense of those words or in the specific senses CCPA/CPRA gives them.

Who else sees it {#processors}

• PostHog - product analytics, on their EU infrastructure. Analytics requests go to tamperan.com first and we pass them on, so your browser is not talking to PostHog directly. Only used with your agreement.
• Cloudflare - serves the site and filters abusive traffic. Sets its own strictly-necessary cookies to do that.

Personal data is processed in the UK and EEA. That is the complete list of third parties; there is no advertising network, no data broker, and no tag manager on this site.

Cookies and tracking {#cookies}

We group storage into four categories you control separately. You can change any of them at any time using Manage cookies in the footer of every page.

Strictly necessary

These support things you have asked the site to do - remembering your cookie choices, and keeping the contact form secure against abuse. The site does not work properly without them, so they cannot be turned off. Cloudflare sets a small number of its own for the same reason.

Functional

Remembering preferences you have set. Not currently used on this site, and declared so that if we ever add something in this category you have already been asked about it rather than meeting it for the first time.

Analytics

PostHog, described above. Turned off until you agree, and if you decline it stays off. Before you have decided either way, analytics runs in a cookieless mode that writes nothing to your device.

Marketing

Advertising and cross-site tracking. Not used on this site, and we have no plans to. Declared for the same reason as functional.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or complain to a regulator - in the UK, the ICO. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: the Manage cookies link is on every page.

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends it, we treat analytics as declined without you having to do anything.

How long we keep things

Contact form submissions are kept while there is a reason to - an ongoing or possible conversation - and deleted when there is not. Analytics data is retained by PostHog under their retention settings and is not tied to a name or an email address. Consent decisions are kept as a record that you made them, which is what a regulator asks for as proof.

Changes

If we add a vendor or change what data is shared, we bump the policy version and ask you again, rather than quietly relying on a decision you made about something else.
